When is the Summer of Myths?
Tuesdays and Thursdays, July 12-August 26  9am to Noon

Where is the Summer of Myths?
We will meet at the Waverly Oaks Sprinkler Park in Belmont, MA. 

What if it rains?
This is a shine only program.  In the event of rain, you will receive an email by 7am canceling the program for the day. You will then be sent a rain ticket to print and bring to the rain make up days on July 29th and August 26th.

What will my child be doing during the Summer of Myths?

 (all time are estimate)

9:00-9:45am Arrival and free play
9:45-10:00 morning snack (a piece of fruit) and morning welcome
10:00-10:30 smaller kids (4-6) craft and lesson older kids free water play
10:30-11:15 SWAP! Older kids (7-9) lesson and craft, smaller kids free water play
11:15-11:30 closing meeting and snack.
11:30-noon free play until parents pick up.


What are the weekly themes of the Summer of Myths?


Both Tuesday and Thursday will have the same craft and lesson plans. 

July

July 12 & 14: What are Myths?

July 19 & 21: Myths from around the world

July 26 &28: Modern Myths including Harry Potter and the Kane Chronicles

August

August 2 & 4: Mythbusters! Scientific myths

We are taking the week of the 9th off

August 16 & 18: Mythological Creatures

August 23 & 25: Create your own myth

Each day your child will make a craft that I will keep until the end of the program where they will be on display at the Myth Museum.  The Myth Museum will be held in the Corcoran Park Community Room in Cambridge, MA on August 27th.





How much is Summer of Myths?

Rates:
Registration fee: $25  for first child, $10 for every additional child. You will have a chance sign up for the days you'd like to participate in the program on the registration form.  Your registration fee holds your child's spot on those days.

Program rate:

There are two options:
1: Parent attended playgroup session: $15 (per child) covers the cost of snack and supplies.
2: Drop off/ Parent Morning Off: $40 per child, per day for care from 9-noon, including a healthy snack.  Sibling discount $20

You can pay at pick up or at registration.  If you choose to pay in full at registration, you will receive a 10% discount.

What is the summer reading program?

Every child will receive a reading log and a list of books you can read at home that go along with the week's theme.  If they read (or you read to them) for a total of 20 hours throughout the course of the program, they will receive an invitation to a pizza party.  The older kids can participate in a camp out where they share their favorite myth over a campfire and s'mores, if there is enough interest.
